Hi, hoping for some advice please. My Wii has stopped taking in discs. It's like there's something in the way. It's not making any noises or attempts to pull a disc in. Just before it broke though it ejected the previous disc with no problem. I opened it up to see if there was something stuck in it but I can't see anything however a tiny piece of plastic fell out. It's the same semi transparent white plastic as other parts but I can't see where it has come from. Any thoughts? I think it's too old to be under guarantee, although I've opened it now so that's a moot point.... Please help!

sounds like the disk accept trigger most likely broke off in the cd drive this happens a lot more then you would think there really is no fix except to replace the wii's drive or the wii itself
Thanks for this. Is there a way of looking for sure to see if that's what's happened, would I be able to see it? I'm a bit of a dunce, is it a big/expensive/difficult job to replace the drive? Is it the sort of thing I can pick up on ebay?
Thank you.
If you are not technically minded then look to pick up a second hand wii (just the main unit sells for £30 / $45, cheaper than replacing the disc drive)

you dont even need the disc drive, you could always softmod it and play games via a hdd,

basically if you know what torrents are, you will never have to buy a wii game again, if you know what torrents are your nearly there, just buy a external hdd format to wbfs with wbfs manager and transfer games from there to the hdd, also google modmii follow the steps and it creates a guide (you will need a 2 gbsd card for this or a 2gig micro sd card with an adapter just to transfer data to and from pc to wii), its really easy and help is here if you take that route

What he said :P
All you need to so is softmodd it (meaning installing a software to make your wii use a Hardrive which would be attached to the wii via a USB cable.
All the games will be in the Hardrive.
You can also copy all the games you have on CD into the Hardrive.
Many people go with this option once their Wii Drive stops working.
It will save you $$$$ on buying a new wii or second hand wii and doing all the softmodding will cost you nothing.
Except maybe 10 dollars on buying a SD card (need to install the programs to softmod your wii) and between 40 - 80 dollars for a hardrive, depending on the size of the Drive to put all the games in.
