I did not find this subject addressed searching the Nero forum so here goes:

Note ? this is not about whether Recode really merges titles or just VOBs? I know that you have to follow up Recode opertions with IfoEdit and rewrite the IFO files to really end up with ONE title, and not just make one larger VOB out of multiple smaller ones. Regarding that subject, if anyone is interested see this post

That approach with Recode and IfoEdit is great and it works fine most of the time. My original multiple titles play as one long continuous title in the Zune. (After conversion from VOBs to m4v/mp4 using a utility such as Handbrake of course.)

However here is my problem: On rare occasions in Recode when I select multiple titles for the merge operation, the merge button stays grayed out. There is apparently something about one or more of the selected titles that prevents them being merged with the others.

In one recent exercise, I had a total of 16 titles, but one, #14 had to be excluded from the group selected before the merge button would become operational. Turned out, this Title 14 was an extra selection included on a 15 song concert DVD, which didn?t play in the normal sequence of the original main title.

I used IfoEdit to examine the content of that Title 14 .IFO file vs that of the other 15 Titles. Turned out that the 15 all had a subtitle stream, but that balky Title 14 did not. Thinking that might be the problem, I re-authored a sample of the 15 ?normal? titles on that DVD with Shrink, cutting out the subtitles, verified that it then looked the same as Title 14 in IfoEdit, but?. No joy. When I tried to merge just those two titles, the merge button still stayed inactive in Nero Recode.

So, apparently something else is preventing Recode from starting the merge operation, but I?m at a loss regarding where to look next.

If anyone has any pointers or comment regarding what might be the problem, I would very mach appreciate hearing of it.

BTW, I am using Nero Recode 2 which was part of a NERO 6 installation on a XP machine.

Thanks.
