I recently recieved some DVD copies of a couple of my nephews soccer games. What i would like to do is make a copy of the DVD with some text emdedded into the video. What i have in mind is just adding something which scrolls through (right to left) every 15 minutes or so saying "nephews name playing against opponents name". What is the best way to do this? Would i need to convert the file to avi, add the text and then convert again to DVD? Or is there a way to just add the text directly on top of the DVD video while i'm burning a second copy or a vob file that i've ripped to my PC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you load the DVD into VirtualDub, you can place a logo on the screen using a filter - the logo would be your text, saved as a .bmp file.
The video would then have to be saved as AVI and reconverted to DVD using another program.
If you wanted the logo/text to scroll, I think you would have to use an AviSynth script with VirtualDub.

An alternative is use VOB2MPG to convert the DVD files to a single MPEG file, then use FAVC or DVD Flick to add your text - the text would be a .srt file which you create with Notepad.
Either can output a new DVD.

In DVD Flick there is an option to copy Mpeg2 files - it means the video is not encoded, thus faster and no quality loss.
DVD Flick also has an option to force the subs 'on' without the any input from the player (they can however be turned off with the remote)

FAVC doesn't force the subs, but will optionally 'burn' the subtitles and create a new DVD.

There are other ways to do this, but this gives you an idea.
