Hi all. Now that HD-DVD is pseudo-dead I am willing to risk my HD-A2 in hopes to maybe delve a bit deeper into my HD-A2.

I have read around that apparently the OS is simply Linux, and the machine is basically a Pentium 4 2800 with a hardware decoding chip that is actually supported by Linux and MPlayer. And it also has ethernet and several USB ports.. it got me thinking this would be a great little network media player booted off a USB stick, if only I could hack it...

Has anyone successfully hacked / moddded this device to get access to the OS? I guess the first step is to get a working RS-232 header, but I am new at this and can't figure out which headers on the motherboard would be likely candidates...

Does anyone have experience with this that could give me some pointers? I have already taken the device apart. Here are some photos of the motherboard I found online...
