HELP Linux restore cd

ok if i am posting this in the wrong place i am sorry
heres my problem
i have a dual boot ubuntu and XP system
and i would like to make a image of my linux and xp partition
and make a restore cd/dvd out of it so if/when my system gets
messed up i can put the cd/dvd in and it will restore my HD
partition, linux, xp files and all. kinda like the restore cds
you get from Asus and compaq
now haveing said that i have done this on a windows only pc but never with a dual boot or a linux system so if some one could help maybe point be to some software or give me the steps that would be just great
