I've done this to some extent already but I want to be able to fully access my PC from my laptop and vice versa

I've done this before for a PC to another PC

Is the process similar?

Define "fully access".

You want to share file? Easy and can be done with existing software.

You want to control one from the other? Not so easy and you will need to go buy some software.

Sound like you need to start here:

http://www.mac-connect.com/win_mac_samba.php

You didn't say which OSes you are using but the above article should get you started.

Be aware that to edit files you will need applications that are "aware" of each other's file formats on each computer. (ex. you cannot edit a file created with Microsoft Word on the Mac using your PC unless you have a program on your PC that can read and write Word files.

The link from Apple in your first post should work ok as long as you get the correct permissions set for what you are trying to access. Also make sure that the Netbios ports, 137 through 139 are not blocked on the firewall on the PC.

It also greatly simplifies things if you use the same username and password on both PC and Mac, else you might have to Connect As and provide the Mac user/pass on the PC side if you were trying to map a drive or connect. Dailun's link showed that hint as well.

probably depends on the formatting of our hard drive. Macs can usualy read windows partitions, but if you use the hfs, or whatever, I don't believe windows can read that. I can't remember if mac can do fat based formatting, but if it can, I would think that is the best bet

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat
