Hey,

I have a friend who as a present gave me an ipod with all of her music on it (downloaded via mac itunes). I want to transfer that music to my itunes list on my PC. Whenever I connect it to my PC it does will not recognize my ipod because of the mac settings and immediately wants me to reconfigure and delete all music from the ipod. Is there anyway for me to transfer the music from the ipod to my PC so I can have both music from my friend and my own itunes music as well?

Aloha,
Tara

You are very lucky itune did not kill your ipod permenently! I would uninstall itunes ASAP. Google and instal Media Monkey. See if you can deal with it. It has at least 20 times the functionality as itunes. Some find it too confusing. One of the options it has that itunes does not have is a reverse sycn option. That would be under tools/options/portable players. Make sure your ipod is named. Then plug in your ipod into your computer then pick your ipod from the list of supported players. Somewhere in the vast set of options there is the reverse sync.

What is so nice about MM is everyone is friendly and helpful vs trying to squeeze every last penny from your pocket then screw you to boot.

If that doesn't work for you, the music in your ipod is in a hidden folder called ipod_control. If you set the option to view hidden files and folders you can copy your music with file explorer.

Before you discount MM, I would read the last 20-30 posts in the ipod forum and note how many had had leathal itunes attacks. If you use itunes, you better be careful or you will kill your ipod.
