I want to display my computer on my tv. I have a mini dvi to dvi cord and i was going to run a dvi to hdmi for from that to the tv. i know ill be good with getting my video but will my audio also work for that or will I have to run my audio through my computer speakers?

The audio will not work through the dvi-hdmi route. You need to take the audio separately to your TV, for example with this kind of cable Belkin Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug/2-RCA Plugs

In your TV settings, you should then be able to associate the RCA audio input to the HDMI video input.
