I have a compaq nx9010 that I replaced the hard drive on and cloned the old one. Things were going good then I tried to install some digital camera software. Now when I turn on the computer, I get the windows root\system 32\hal.dll file is missing or corrupt please reinstall a copy. I put the os disk in and go to repair, I try to go to bootcfg/rebuild and it takes me right back to the original windows error. How can I resolve this without having to crash it all. It is windows xp professional os.
