Does anyone know of a good program that isn't manufacturer specific that provides on-screen brightness and volume indicators for Windows 7?

I tried 3rvx and I didn't really care for it, specifically for the fact that it does not include brightness indication. What I am really looking for is indicators that work for all laptops.
