I'm trying to install the Windows 7 64 bit and I keep getting the same error after booting up from the disk. After it loads the disk, I click "Install" and it takes me to a window where it asks me to select my drivers. The error then says:

"Load Driver

A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. if you have a driver floppy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash droive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step. "

I tried putting all of my motherboards drivers on a usb flash drive, it even recognizes the usb drive and when I browse its contents and select the appropriate drivers, it gives me this message:

"Load Driver

No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."

The HD is hooked up in the BIOS to RAID, my options are IDE and ASCHI? I'm just not sure what to do with this problem, things have changed since the days of XP. I tried to even boot up my XP disc and i get a blue screen! I think it may be a communication error with my HD? Its a seagate barracuda 250gb SATA.

Thanks for any help.

How old are your components in comparrison to each other? I'd have to imagine the mobo is reletively new. You might want to try installing the drivers with a good old floppy drive and disk.

actually, my motherboard is the oldest component in my computer aside from my dvd drive.

do you think that has anything to do with it?

I had this same problem when I installed 32bit Win7...after some searching I found others with the same problems due to a corrupt download from MS. I re-downloaded it and all is well.

Yes, the DVD is set to master. There arent any switches on the motherboard that I'm aware of (its an old gateway fx7024?). The DVD drive is old enough that it doesnt include DVD-RW.

I have a couple ideas if what might be wrong but the fact that it happened with a usb as well kind of throws me off. I'd say try a different drive if possible.

Have you had this system with these exact parts for a while. Or is it a custom build of mismatched spare parts. I've had problems with those and just switching out the parts fixed everything.
