One of my kids changed my password on my laptop and can't remember what he changed it to. I'm running Windows 7. How can I change my password if I don't know the old password.

First I would smack the kid upside the head
Second hopefully you have another user profile with admin access?
If not repeat first step until he remembers.
All joking aside though I would perhaps ask in msoft forum where they have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of win 7. Unless someone else comes up with a more useful reply that is

Thanks for the advice. And don't worry the child was taken care of. No PS3 until I get the laptop working.And I'm working nights now, so it will be several days till I get to it. Thanks again. hogan

Well, there are programs (ones that can be burned on a disc) that allows you to reset the password. Don't ask where to get those, just use some magical-internet-search with keywords like "windows password reset".

For the future; in Windows 7, there is an option for making a flash drive to reset the password if you lose it. So you can make that if you get your laptop working..
