I do not understand software developer's love for .NET. To me, it is a useless and clunky addition to already bloated system software, and the only purpose it serves is to tie software and parts of the OS to the Internet. If software is run locally, it has no need to have Internet access unless the developers are trying to scam information from their users.

Consider who developed .NET. Microsoft. Consider their track record for respecting the sanctity of personal computers. Zilch. No .NET for me, or the circle of customers I provide tech support and advice for.
