gtx200 drivers (windows screen not stretching to fit tv)

sorry in advance for lack of information/wrong forum

im having some really wierd problems with my gtx200 drivers, im running a gtx260 video card on vista home premium 32bit, it was working fine till i updated to the newer drivers and now my windows screen will not fully stretch to fit my tv, my toolbar and all the edges are outside my viewable area, i tried to use the nvidia control panel to resize my screen which worked before but now when i do it i am presented with only the top left corner of the resizing screen and cant move the slider bars... its baffling i have tried to strip the drivers and reinstall the old ones, than stripped it again and installed the new drivers and still nothing works. not sure what to do, i am running it on a mitsubishi 56 inch tv listed in the nvidia control panel as a MEUSPTV1 using an hdmi cable

im using an evga geforce gtx 260
main driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll,nvwgf2um
version:8.15.0011.9038(english)
WHQL Logo'd: Yes
DDI Version:10

under display in dxdiag it is listing my monitor as a generic pnp monitor , it will only display my tv model number under the nvidia control panel.

any help would be appreciated...
