I recently bought a laptop with Windows 7. It's only 32 bit though, meaning I can only use 3 of my 4 gigs of ram. But I was never given an installation disk so I don't know how to change to 64 bit.

What should I do?

it's not an upgrade just like that. you need to wipe out the old version, and do a clean install from a x64 disc.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Well I'm aware that my computer will be wiped but I still need an installation disk from somewhere. Is there a downloadable version?

have to buy it. the reason you do not have an install disk as it is on the 2nd partition of your hard drive which is your recovery partition. the manufacturer expects you to make your own recovery disks thru windows thru their program. need about 3-5 dvd disks.

Do you know where I would find one of these programs? Do I need to get in touch with my manufacturer (MSI, ugh!) or is it hidden somewhere in the massive manual?

Ahhhh wait, there is a program for burning recovery disks. So the recovery disk should give me an option to re-install to x32 or x64 version of Windows 7? Will it ask for a product key because I don't know where I would find one.

Also, on the driver disk, there is an option to restore everything to factory defaults. I suppose that wouldn't give me an option to change would it?

the recovery section will only have the 32bit version that you are using now. i'm a bit surprised that your laptop came with 4gig of ram when you are using a 32 bit windows.

Yes, 'tis strange...

What if I borrowed a x64 disk from someone I knew? Would I still need to find a product key somewhere?
