I just installed Windows 7 RC 7100, 64 Bit. I didn't see any errors in the setup or anywhere else. After completely finishing installation AND Windows updates, I noticed there was no audio. So I also ran audio drivers from the motherboard disk. Visual displays indicate there is sound detected by the PC. Websites or machine sounds do not work at all. All cables and knobs have been doublke checked. Here is my system info:

It's probably a driver issue. I had the same problem when I installed windows 7, the onboard audio wouldn't work. I couldn't find drivers for it, I installed an old pci soundcard and also had problems finding drivers for it, eventually I did find vista drivers that would work.

It took me 2 days to find the correct drivers, it might be harder to get the 64 bit drivers.

Wow! I pulled one of the dumbest stunts. While I had audio before installing W7, I must have somehow slightly knocked the audio cable loose. I gave up on looking for the right drivers, reinstalled XP and found out XP had no audio. Checked cables. Reconnected audio cable. TADA!
Reinstalled W7.
I got audio!!

You learned not to overlook the obvious...thats half the battle...
I had a similar moment recently where I did a full reinstall unnecessarily. Adding some 1TB hard disks to my array, I re-routed wires and plugged my primary drive into the wrong SATA controller and had major performance issues. I'd forgotten that one of the downfalls of experimenting with new hardware, an OCZ solid state hard drive in my instance, is incompatibilities with certain drivers. A full reinstall didnt fix the issue then i remembered. I simply changed the SATA port i plugged into and fixed the problem.
