You need a decent video card for Aero.
At least you fid with Vista, not sure if Windows 7 has improved
in terms of efficiency or not.

Is there any hack or program that i can use to enable it... All i want is the eyecandy, and windows movie maker... I have a laptop so switching out the card is out of the picture because the card is connected to the motherboard.

In Vista you can go into control panel/performance info
and see the "windows experience index" which gives you
a score for different performance criteria, such as RAM, CPU, HDD,
business graphics and AERO.

Have you looked for this in Windows 7? What is your score ?

What happens when yuo actually turn on AERO ?

If you were running Vista your scores are too low to run Aero.
I suspect the same problem occurs in Win 7 although it's not supposed to
be quite as resource-heavy.

What happens when you turn it on? Is there an error message?
Frankly, I'd advise you to look on the laptop manufacturers
website for specific info in regards to your model.

when i try or attempt to turn it on it tells me to update my graphics card driver to support a wddm, and scince intel is being very obnoxious they will not release a driver even though i really need one! just think of the millions of computers and laptops that use that graphics card are put to waist! is there any hack or program you know of that will cause glass and aero to work... also i would like to be able to use windwows movie maker but paying for premium to get basic is not what i was shooting for.

It does sound as if something is not installed right.
Go into the device manager, right-click the display adaptor
and select update the driver.

I don't know the specifics of your laptop, which is why I suggested
you visit the manufacturers site. They may have their own forums
where you're more likely to interact with users familiar with your
H/W. If necessary open a support incident.

I don't know of any technique to "hack" the machine. First you must
make sure you have recent drivers and that they are correctly installed.

UGGGH I did as you asked and it says to find a wddm driver. Thinking that i would find one i went to the intel website and the dell website. Turns out the video card is too old and it will never be able to run aero. Back to xp for me.

okay well that was the biggest mistake of my life. i hate windows xp! it took me 3 weeks to find the right drivers and then it didn't even work right after that! when will microsoft get it right. the next time this happens i will move to ubuntu! anyways, i recently got fed up with xp and then i installed windows 7 again (notice how i am completely ignoring windows vista) (: and then it installed the RIGHT DRIVERS!!!!!!!! But sadly still no aero. Do you have any suggestions for me anybody? a hack or something that works that will enable the aero interface without me having to buy a whole new laptop or pry th old one out and try to force another graphics card in? i need some serious help.... in all of the commercials, there are people that have the full aero and they say it is just great! i am so mad because the drivers worked in the beta version!

If you look around using google search, you'll find many articles like this.
The search arguments used were:
intel 915gm aero "windows 7"

tried windows 7 beta on my parents vaio equipped with the 915GM chipset a while back. there's NOTHING you can do to get aero. intel hasn't released a WDDM driver, and they probably won't.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .
