Is it safe to format the d drive of my sytem?

Since i had two os
windows 7 in c drive
windows xp in d drive
Now windows xp had problems so i deleted the whole drive files in it including windows folder but still some files are der as they are unable to delete..Am not able to format the windows xp folder also from windows 7 as it comes as unable to format...
The contents of xp drive contains the boot.ini and other boot files
c screenshot..is it safe to format the drive ? and how do i format the drive since it comes as access denied in win 7..



I hope someone wud help me out here..

This will be a little complicated. The files in d: drive are probably read only hidden. These need to remain there due to the dual-boot. If you remove them windows 7 won't boot. You will have to transfer them to your c: drive.
