I have the computer in my signature upstairs in the bedroom with a wireless g linksys pci card. I have an older computer downstairs with the router and modem - a P4 3.4 GHz & 2GB RAM. I have an xbox 360 hooked up to my tv downstairs - sometimes a wireless adapter sometimes hard wired to the router. Router is a linksys wrt54g2. I also recently was lucky enough to get fiber optic internet here at home.
My problem is that when trying to watch video on my 360 from my upstairs computer it takes very long to load, often freezes, or backs out to the dashboard. I believe it is a problem with the upstairs computer because I tried hard wired with the 360 to the router and also, my downstairs computer just froze up looking at my upstairs computers networked folders. Also, my software says that the computer has a strong connection but the blinking computers showing a connection seem to blink off and on like the signal is dropped and picked right back up. I get over 1 MB a second with torrents and have no issues being online with that PC. I am not entirely sure but I think the problem is recent, since coming home last week - I had my xbox hard drive on my friend's xbox, no other changes. Writing this I realize I should at least try resetting the network. Any help is appreciated and I will post whether resetting fixed this.
What a pain... Went to reset the network and wow my modem is a wireless router and they hooked it up to my linksys wireless router. Just got done talking to tech support setting it all up. Trying to copy a video from my upstairs wireless PC to my downstairs PC says it will take 209 minutes and the 360 is still not picking up the video either so, this did not solve my problem. Could my wireless PC be dropping the connection when it is lax?
Not happy, 2 hours of technical support and they said they won't help me because my internet is working and they don't support file sharing issues. Also, I tried running a torrent file on my wireless PC to 'keep' my connection open with no luck.
next time edit your previous post instead of posting 1 after another as per forum rules. i hope that sig of yours is just for description for your problem as 5 lines to many as per forum rules.
