Sony Vaio VGN-FW11M Audio Problems

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate on the Sony Vaio VGN-FW11M. Using the Sony Vaio support website i have retrieved the drivers for the audio card.

The problem i am having is that because it is a HDMI audio card also it is rather confusing when trying to deal with windows sound.

The only time the audio will work is when it is outputting through the HDMI cable to the tv for example.

You can not hear anything during windows or just through the headphones etc. Opening up the windows mixer, when playing music, you can see the equalisers going up and down in the HDMI section but for windows sounds theres absolutely nothing going on.

Now the following drivers were the ones that were available on the Sony Vaio Uk website.

Marked on website as Realtek Audio Driver the filename is Audio Driver Realtek 6.0U _6.0.1.5610.zip (When installing this comes up as HDMI audio devive in the installshield)

and

Marked as Audio Driver Realtek HDMI the filename is Audio Driver Realtek HDMI 6.0Q082Q_6.0.1.5602.zip (When installing this comes up as Realtek High Definition Audio Driver r191)

I have tried them both on the system and the exact same thing happens.

Now am i missing something? Is there an extra driver for windows only sound for this laptop or is there something else wrong?

I would appreciate any help atall.
