Hello. I would like to know how to remove the programs as a new computer is starting up for the first time. Someone did it for me once. He had them all listed on a screen together where he could take them off. This was when the computer was first setting up. I may be mistaken and apologize if so. Please let me know if there is a way to do that or what is the easiest way to get rid of all the preloaded programs. Again, I apologize if the answer is here on this website already. Thank you for your help.

It sounds like the person that did it for you before simply unchecked the startup programs using msconfig. While this method will keep the programs from starting up, it won't actually uninstall them. Here's how to do it.

Press the Windows Button on your keyboard plus the "R" button. This will bring up the run window. Now type "msconfig" and press enter. This will open the system configuration utility. If you select the startup tab, you can uncheck items that you don't want to run when your computer starts up.

If this doesn't look like what your friend did, then he may have used the add/remove programs feature to actually uninstall the programs. This can be found in the control panel. There are also some 3rd party applications that you can use to uninstall applications.

That's great. I will try that out. I wasn't exactly sure what he did but that was probably what it was. Your answer helps me out a great deal. Thanks again.

alternately, you can also try using pc decrapifier...helps in getting rid of all those unwanted software that you didn't even know were installed in your computer!! with msconfig you only disable them, but the programs are still there.
