Laptop running windows 7 was shut down during an update and since this it will not start up correctly. When I select the option to start windows normally because windows was not shut down correctly the start up screen comes on and then the screen goes blank. I can hear the drive noising but nothing is happening. All help greatly appreciated.

This just happened to to my Desktop, Here how I was able to fix.
When you get to the screen to start window`s in normal mode.
Try to start in safe mode, use arrow keys to highlight it, Hit enter.
It will take some time.
If it does start in safe mode, get into the system restore point,
and select a restore point before the update.

Thanks Aldiii, but it won't start in safe mode either. Any other suggestions?
