Hi,

I hope I have posted this to the correct forum.

I am thinking about formatting my PC as I've have allot of virus/malware problems and a blue screen also appears a few times a week telling me windows was shut down to protect my drives or something along those lines.
The only truble is I have lost my windows disc. I have a genuine copy of XP installed on my PC and was wondering if any one knows a way around this problem? i.e obtain my serial number from my PC and obtain anther copy of XP somehow? I am by no means and expert and could do with some helpful advise.

Thanks alot Terry9999.

I think if you don't have the xp disc that came with your pc you could be in trouble as in you will have to probably buy it again.

If your pc is a brand name say like 'Dell' or 'HP' if you knew someone who had an OEM disc the same brand as your pc you could use that and it should work.

if you can get your serial, and your machine is not oem,you can get your local computer store to burn a copy of xp.make sure its the same version as you are running.if it is oem ive heard of varying degrees of success here but have no personal experience with it.
