Avast Home Edition !! Resorce Hog ?

I am running a laptop with a 1.4 gz processor with Avast
Home edition. When I am booting it up it takes FOREVER!!
Is it the Avast that's slowing it down?

No, that would not be avast slowing it down, as avast is one of the least-resource-using antivirus programs.
