something just won't let my computer work and all the free virus scanners I get my hands on don't find a thing.
Its a dell 4600C with a "generic motherboard" that I've been told can be programmed to save the "virus" on the flash memory?
I asked around and was told that if that new 1TB hard drive with a fresh install didn't help then they couldn't do anything for me:
can you?
One of these processes or more just ain't like the other one of the processes just ain't the same... (or would it even show up where I can see it? if its there I can find it right?)

Try using a linux livecd. See if that works. Maybe your motherboard is bad and it's causing your BSOD.
The linux livecd will run an operating system from the cd, it will use all your components except the hard drive.
Those bios viruses are very rare, but if it got into your bios it usually will destroy the motherboard. Similar to a bios update gone bad, which renders the motherboard unusable.
Pretty certain it isn't a virus. It's a hardware issue, because like the above poster said, those flash rom viruses are meant to destroy a motherboard by reflashing the rom so much that it can't be read anymore.
It's very difficult to tell what your problem may be since a BSOD could be caused my many different hardware problems. Next BSOD, copy the dump and post it on the computer hardware help forums.
