hey my computer keeps freezing after about 15 minutes of use. it just goes white, except for the toolbar - which is frozen. i can still move my mouse, i just cant click on anything.
i have to do a hard restart and when it logs on again, i have to restore my backround.
can someone tell me if i have a virus ?
download hijack this.install and rename the file scanner.exe.run hijack this and post a log file.in the meantime download, install, update and scan with malwarebytes.remove everything malwarebytes says to.what antivirus, antispyware programs do you use?
about three weeks ago, my computer got hit with "anti-virus soft" and i thought i had cleared it all up. i ran malwarebytes and cc cleaner already and they're both coming back with successful turnouts.

heres my hijack this log file:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2
Scan saved at 11:48:32 AM, on 6/23/2010
Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP3 (6.00.2900.5512)
Boot mode: Normal
well i googled what i thought were questionable entries and nothing stood out.download malwarebytes, update it and run a complete system scan.delete whatever it comes up with.
ill rerun malwarebytes. last time it came back with no objects infected.

and actually, i think i ran the last hijack this log that i posted while in safe mode with startup items disabled. wouldnt that make a difference with what shows up on the log file ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i found something in system config utility under startup called " rghqtegtssd.exe " which is located in admin\local settings\ application data\smgxucydk\rghqtegtssd.exe
eh - what the hell is that ? i looked it up and found nothing. could this be my bug ?
so i tried to disable that nasty .exe and start up my computer in normal mode, and it froze up in 5 minutes. should i run a hijack this in normal mode?
ok more to it than i thought.
when i go back into normal mode under msconfig -
all of my desktop icons are gone.
and under programs in start menu; its empty.
