When I go online and try to use Internet Explorer and I type a site in the address bar, nothing happens. The only way I can access a site is through favorites.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

If you have windows defender installed or any antivirus program make sure its up to date and run a full scan after that download Malwarebytes anti spyware program and run a full scan on your pc once you have cleaned all the bugs out run windows udpate and get the latest fixes for your pc. Hi jamesmart

Try this:

Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).
• If you use Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type inetcpl.cpl in the Open box, and then press Enter.
• If you use Windows Vista, click Start. Type inetcpl.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
• The Internet Options dialog box will appear.
• Click the Advanced tab.
• Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
• When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
• Start Internet Explorer again.

If this does not work,

Download the .zip file, unzip and run the same as administrator (The
attachment has a BAT file, which will re-register a group of DLL Files
related to IE).

This should resolve the issue.

NOTE - Ensure that no IE window (also windows folders) is open while
executing the above file.
