Depends on your level of experience & the type of virus,since you've asked it places you in the same boat as most including myself,your best defence in the future is to have a storage device & an extended partition on a drive in your comp (two places to hold backup images) that can hold images of your C partition & use the free EaseUS Todo Backup software to create them

It can take days to remove a virus most times doing so will leave damaged OS files behind,so it becomes quicker to reformat & reinstall,but this time create backup images as you go & what that means is if you ever get another infection you can be backup & running in around 1 hour as tho nothing happened

Easiest solution is to stay away from porn sites and find more reliable sources of whatever it is you're browsing or downloading.

doesnt matter if your looking for porn or a online gaming website virsus's are virus's.even sites that are free provide links to dodgey sites that may contain a virus.
best bet have a virus scanner and hope it works.run scans daily.

It depends entirely on the type and severity of the infection

If you think your computer is infected with a virus, you can try following the steps in this virus/malware removal guide: www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide

It contains instructions that will remove most malware infections.
