The problem with the solutions mention in those threads is that my computer wont boot in safe mode, which most of the solutions say you need to be able to do. I keep seeing ComboFix mentioned but since I cant boot up in safe mode I havent tried it yet. Should I?
I can get to the menu where I can choose safe mode, but when i choose it and hit enter, it just cycles thru and brings me back to the menu options where your choose safe mode, normal mode, etc. I've tried downloading all the the antivirus scanners again and renaming them when saving but that hasn't worked. I got malwarebytes anti-malware to update and start doing this but after about 3 minutes into just "preparing" to scan it shut down.
It started with a red button with a white x that installed itself and something called pc security2010 that showed up neither of which would let me uninstall.I've tried spybot, malwarebytes anti-malware, dr web, root repeal, avast, avast cleaner tool, nonoe of the scanner will start up, For example last time i tried spybot i got a grey box that says" Unable to execute file c:/programfiles/spybot-search&destroy/spybotsd.exe create process failed;code 5 access is denied" but instead of the usual yellow hazard symbol it had the red button with the white x. And i just tried downloading and re-naming "hijack this" but that wont even load after install so i cant get a log file from that to post here.
This thing also keeps shutting down Mcafee when i restart my computer so I have to manually turn it back on each time, after a while mcafee and spybot catch some of the the problems to where they kinda go away but it wont let either run their scanners, ever. The red button keeps coming back the next time i start up my computer though.
It has even affected internet explorer, I tried, while using IE, microsoft windows defender scan which I guess scans from the website and it ended up shutting down the IE browser, so now that browser wont even start up. I'm runnin mcafee anti virus on a windows xp on a compaq computer. I can access the internet thru firefox but these virus' have really bogged down my computer, to where things freeze up alot. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
