I was cleaning the malware off of my nieces computer and I managed to get everything except this virus called fasec(trj). I ran avast boot scanner and various other programs numerous times to get rid of it but it would always come back.
After one of my attempts to delete the virus I walked off to do something and when I came back I noticed it was installing updates so I decided to let it finish. Then I noticed that when it finished it started installing updates again. That when it hit me that I had never signed on to the computers at that time so I forced power off.
Whenever I would log on after that I would get a message from windows. that certain files were missing and that I needed it needed to revert to some older files and I noticed all of her files had disappeared.
Eventually got it to start loading without displaying the error messages but I noticed that it would always give me the "welcome to windows" new user type message and the related tutorials. Then I went into documents and setting and saw that her files were still their but that their had been 6 new users profiles created.
Its seems that every time I log on a new user profile is created and logged onto.
I've tried to run scandisc, registry cleaning software, sfc.exe scannow sfc and various root-kit and malware tools. It still creates a new profile every time I log on except for when I log on as administrator but it switches the administrator but it switches the administrator profile to the last user profile created.
If I could do a fresh install I would but my niece has neither her Windows Xp professional disc or her activation key to I have to fix this on the current installation.
I need to know how to stop it from making new profiles every time I log on and how to get rid of fasec(trj).
I tried running avira but it causes her windows to crash when I do a scan and sometimes even when it starts up. Spybot and various other programs won't even run. When I click the .exe nothing happens.
