Yeah, I guess so.. My Grandad died in his 50's, my dad at 55 and I thought I didn't have much of a chance but, I'll be 71 next month and I always say, if you are 7 or 70 you can piddle in the driveway and get away with it....... LOL

Are you 71?? I'll be 71 next month... That gives us some common ground to plow.. LOL

Sorry, but I got a little upset when you abandoned your computer, that still needed some work, to work on your son's. I like to finish one job before starting another.. I used to work on 6 or 7 computers at the same time and could keep up with all of them but, it's just too confusing for me to bounce around anymore. Multitasking went out the window several years ago. lol

We can do it but, which one do you want to work on???

This is your son's computer, Right???

I will work up some stuff today and get it back to you. I have the logs I need.. I will change some things and am not going to give you any choices. It will be for the better so, just do what I say and nothing else!

I'll be 71 in May and still work 40+ hours a week for a hotel chain. I've been there for 25yrs and know the hotel inside out. I bounce around wherever I'm needed, IT Dept. computers, Engineering and what ever else comes up. Every time I say I'm gonna retire, faces turn pale.

I don't have much time during the week so this may take some time. Bare with me and I'll get back to you later today.

Yeah, no rush please.. lol

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall these (if they are still there)

Ad-Aware
Spybot - Search & Destroy
Java(TM) 6 Update 37
Java 7 Update 10
Avast

Download and re-install Avast 8 -> http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Ant...j=dl&tag=button

You should still have HijackThis:

? Double Click on Hijackthis to Run.
? Click on "Do A system scan and save a logfile" (if you do not see "Do A system scan and save a logfile" then click on main menu)
? Hijackthis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
? Copy and paste the entire contents of the log in your next post.
? Do not have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Please post the HJT Log in your next reply.

It's OK to uninstall if you can. That's just the Java Cache that has built up in an outdated program that's eating up memory......

If it won't let you uninstall, just skip and I'll get it later from here.

Come on whiskey99, all the programs I asked you to uninstall are still showing up in HijackThis!

Don't run or send a HJT Log until you have the programs uninstalled! Or tell me that you couldn't do it and I'll try something else, Please.......

I cannot see what you do. That is why I have you make a Log AFTER you have done what I ask you to do.

I asked you to remove some programs ans THEN make a HijackThis Log. You sent me a Log that shows None of the programs have been removed. The Log is all I have to go by, I don't have a crystal ball and can't read minds.. Don't look like this is going to work.. I did try......

I have looked everywhere for spybot cannot find, the one in HJT is the second edition of
spybot.
Now that i have been rooting around in HJT i saw some items that were to be removed from my PC that were not on this purge.
I know it might not be the right thing to do but shouldnt be able to delete spybot#2 from
the HJT log.
If i read the directions right that if you check mark an item in HJT it should be removed.

NO, Do Not poke around in HijakkThis! you can kill your computer completely and leave you with a paperweight...

Were you able to uninstall the programs that I asked you to? You should be able to use add/remove programs in the control panel. You must be very careful with REVO because you can also kill your computer if you check and delete the wrong registry entries..... :-(

Maybe you should get someone that knows a little more than you do about a computer to help you..

When you are able to find someone, give me a shout and I will continue with them, if you would like.

Sorry,
2oG
