I have a 1TB LaCie HDD that I'm trying to format to FAT32 so I can backup my PS3 game data. Tried cmd prompt, got to 99% and was informed the volume is too big. Tried Swissknife and the only choices it gave me was NTFS and FAT16. Opened "My Computer", right click, properties, format and the only options were NTFS and exFAT. What is exFAT?
Don't know what to do, hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Your are doing this backwards!

Find out what your ps3 will read. Many devices will only read FAT16. If that is the case then you need to lean what the largest disk you can have in that format. Then use a disk utility to break up your disk into smaller logical drives just below the size limit of your format.

hey Mez,
thanks for responding. My ps3 writes to a FAT32 formatted hdd. In swissknife the hdd pie chart showed full. There was an option to delete a partition. I did and at that point FAT32 became an option in the dropdown, clicked start and 6 seconds later the hdd was formatted FAT32, done deal. Was able to backup all game data from ps3. Swissknife is a good format utility.
