Call of Duty 4 Freezing up my PC

OK I have been having problems with call of duty 4 recently.I play the game single player or multiplayer and between 5 min. to an hour later my pc completely locks up the screen freezes on the game the sound starts looping I have to physically restart the computer.I've updated bios,video drivers,windows updates.The temps are fine i've checked on that.I have other games that all work fine so I don't know what's the problem.I did upgrade my cpu about a month ago from a athlon x2 to a phenom x4 so i was thinking maybe this is the problem because I had no problems with COD 4 before.If anyone knows a fix I would appreciate it,thanks.
