Hello geniuses of computers (or people who happen to know just enough to help me out). I have an R4i SDHC v1.4 (red box) cartridge. Everything WAS going smoothly when I decided to system update my dsi from 1.4u to 1.4.1u so that I could see if there was a dsi block (channel/app/program...whatever) for skype. Turns out I should have "googled" it. ANYWAY, I tried seeing what date this system update was available, and I think it's somewhere around 8-??-10. I then went to www.r4i-sdhc.com to check the date of the new kernel (thinking that they might have made an update to their kernel that doesn't get blocked by the new 1.4.1). It says there current kernel for download was made 8-21-2010, so I downloaded that hoping it would work. When I turned it on, it had the SAME red swirly-line logo and it said the game was star wars alliance (apparently that is like a fake id to get into the club or whatever). It said the same error from before I changed the kernel (an error has occured. Please press the Power Button to blah blah blah). So I figured that AT LEAST ONE of these things need to happen next.

1. Buy a new (or trade at gamestop) nintendo dsi WITHOUT the new system update.

2. Download a new kernel that works for 1.4.1u (which I can't find).

3. Use a different flash cartridge that works for 1.4.1u (please add name of cart.).

4. Somehow downgrade my dsi (please add instructions or a link of how to).

5. Something that I've never heard of that works.
or
6. Stop being a cheap dirtbag and actually buy games.

Random facts you might ask me:
-I purchased my r4i sdhc v1.4 around middle of june.
-I have always ejected then removed the micro sd.
-I have tried format(ing) the micro sd as well.
-I downloaded the kernel (before and after I system updated)from www.r4i-sdhc.com
-I am aware that you have to place the 3 files and DAT file on to the micro sd.
-I dug up my DS fat and tried the r4i cart on it, and it worked.
-I found an ordinary DS game and tried it on my DSi I updated, and it worked
-When I selected the game from the home screen (before I system updated) the screens would go black, blink white a couple times, then the top screen would say "R4i Revolution for DS Loading" (which is normal).
-When I select the game (AFTER I system updated) both screens go black and it states on the bottom "An error has occured. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for help troubleshooting". The same happens after I updated the kernel.
-I am slightly experienced with modding, despite that I'm classified on here as a "Noobie". I have a flashed xbox 360 to play burns, I have a samsung drive updated with kreon firmware so I can rent games for $5 and copy them for keeps, I've modded a pokemon rom so that the entire game is water and the fist badge earns you surf ability and hm (I called it Pokemon: Oceanblue, although it may sound interesting, it turned out to be terrible).
-Sorry if that last "fact" seemed to be showboating but I tend to get carried away sometimes... maybe I have A.D.D. ..........OOOOOOOH SQUIRREL!

If you come to some resolution let me know. I'm trying to help a friend also fix the same thing she did to her dsi. with the r4i card.
