Downloaded Nintento DS Games don't work on my R4?

I have tried MANY times to download Final Fantasy IV onto my R4 but it does not work it just leaves my screen blank and white. I also downloaded GRID onto my DS and it says that my save file can't be found or something. why?

Outdated firmware - however the original R4 is no longer being updated.

Look at YSMenu - an alternative
