ds lite and pokemon black/white

Hi i have a ds lite and using an N5 card
i have downloaded a couple of US versions of the
pokemon game (with a patch what ever that does)
but i only get a white screen when loading the game.

Comments on the web are stating it works fine on
R4 and R4i cards, can anybody point me in the right
direction to get this game running
