DSi no power after replacing case

Hey guys, I'm new here. I've searched google and these forums and I have seen my problem with many other people and seen the same solutions each time but I'll go into more detail as to why I think I need a different solution.

I'll start by saying that I have changed the cases on many other DS lite consoles in the past and I have been professionally trained in doing this so I'm not the usual average joe who has these problems and would consider myself experienced.

I bought one of the see-through clear cases from ebay and fitted it but afterwards I just get the bottom screen flickers white then the whole console turns off. This indicates a problem with the top screen which I have read on many websites. Most of these websites state that the cable is damaged and that I would need to purchase a new screen.

However, if I take all the components out of the new case, lay them flat on a table and connect everything up, it works perfectly and turns on fine. If I move the cables it still seems fine and all works as it should. I have also used a magnifying glass and inspected the entire cable on the top screen, there is no damage to the cable at all and not even a crease in it anywhere so I don't think it's this. I've checked the connections are tight so I'm not sure what else I could try.

It just seems strange that it works fine when out of the case but then doesn't work when I put it all back together again.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Buying a new screen would be a last resort because this one works fine when out of the case so I can't see it is a problem with the screen.
