I am writing this to make people aware of two dodge websites out there that are dirty dirty dirty in the hope that people will be warned not to use them for an R4 purchase.

The two web sites I will be talking about are http://www.mobymemory.com/ and http://www.r4isdhc.com/.
Both are as dodge as hell. Mobymemory and r4isdhc are linked and are out to rip people off with an inferior counterfeit R4 R4i product and sell it to unsuspecting clients. Let me give you a background into my story. I have to stress that I am not affiliated with any companies of a similar nature, just a hard working engineer who has been ripped off by mobymemory & R4iSDHC, and does not particularily like giving money away.(I have email evidence to back up my claims if their is a dispute about this claim)

My problem began about a month ago when I bought my girlfriend a Nintendo DSI XL and was told by a friend about these wonderous R4 cards. These cards were meant to allow you to save multiple games (genuine owned backup copies of games of course :¬), as well as music and video content. Unfortunately I was in such a hurry as I had just about forgotten her birthday (sorry M) that as part of the gift I wanted to get her the R4 card with lots of her favourite stuff on it. I asked my mate for an address of the cards he was talking about, and he (bless his cotton socks) did a quick search and unfortunately came up with the mobymemory dodgy thieving rip off site which he thought sold the same R4i type he had. I hurriedly bought two (one for me and her lol) and broke my first rule of internet purchasing which was to look at reviews. Funnily enough if you look at the blog on R4iSDHC itself you can see the rubbish they actually sell (in all fairness to myself mobymemory does not actively claim an association to R4ISDHC).

Anyhow purchasing the cards was a breeze. Even had the option of Paypal, so stupid me here I was thinking my payment was protected. Got the cards suprisingly quick, and first off one of the cards did not work at all. Finding instructions to get the other working and discover the faulty card was a total mission, and when downloading the kernel (as i managed to pick up on the translated english chinese dodgy thieving site) it seemed to install two copies to the micro sd card instead of one. Thought this was strange. Contacted Mobymemory and after a week got a response. They told me to fill out the attached form and send it back-only they did not attach anything. NICE!! Three more emails (dont bother phoning them dodgy buggers dont pay for people to answer-probably cant speak english anyway) and eventually got the form. In the meanwhile was having trouble with the other card, games did not seem to work and could not get music or video to play - thought it was down to inexperience so struggled on. I think I must have spent about a week on the internet trying to find a guide/manual that made any sense and actually referred to my R4I V1.4 Happy Box card. I sent the faulty card back and at the same time opened a case on Paypal (still stupidly thinking I was protected). The pack I sent back included a micro sd card reader, a micro sd card 2gig, a R4i V1.4 Happy Box card and a micro sd card adaptor. Now it was just the sd card that was intially not working at all, but as these all formed part of a single item i sent them all back. Mobymemory sent me back items in the post. The pack I got back was similar to the above but missing the Micro sd adaptor, and this time the micro sd reader did not work. I tried communicating this with mobymemory, but the chinese man on the other end did not understand. Eventually i told him I was not happy with what he had sent, not happy with the card I had kept as could not find decent instructions nad could not get the music or video to work, and I then told him I was sending the whole order back for a refund. The sneaky dodgy buggers waited for two days, and then ended communication on Paypal effectively asking Paypal to make a judgement. Then comes the exciting part. Paypal advises you that they cannot intervene in significantly not as described item bought through any site other than Ebay. NICE. Spent 2 hours trawling through terms and conditions and wanted to close my Paypal account too. Instead changed my funding account on Paypal to come from my credit card. In a similar case as this I could ask my credit card company to issue a charge back, so at least I know this wont happen to me again.

To date after numerous emails I have heard nothing at all. But unknown to them I am determined. Even though they wont give me my money back, I have learnt my lesson and shall teach others. Hopefully any potential customers of theirs will heed my warning.

I will be searching through the forums (thanks for the posts all)to find a decent supplier of these cards and hopefully be up and playing in no time. Thanks for reading cheers Jon
