New DS Lite R4

Hi, my sister has recently had to send her DS Lite back to nintendo for repairs, but somehow they have managed to lose it. they have sent her a new one in its place, but her R4 card wont work this new DS. it still work in her 2 daughters, just not this new one. it does have the latest software on, but still no joy.has anyone got any ideas ?

Well , did your sister got a NDSi instead a NDS Lite ?
