As I see it in the guide, if you are using port 49666 in uTorrent then there should be two rules in the thomson: one for 49666 TCP and one for 49666 UDP.
the port range should be 49666-49666 and the translate to should also be 49666-49666 for each of those rules.
I see you already got the assign to computer part.
I assume the Thomson is the only device between your laptop and the internet.
What is your security software? (anti-virus; firewall etc)
I've assigned utorrent to 49666 and assigned to my laptop.
utorrent has a big tick on it and it has got up to speeds of 5/6 kbs
I have AVG and I've disabled the firewall on it. That's the only anti virus I have
Not to disagree with anyone but I think PlusNet is the problem. Don't like this "limits bandwidth for accounts with a high traffic volume" but try at an off peak time like overnight. Many ISP's that throttle may not then. Also, if still curious, ewsgroups are newsgroups.

I'm certainly not going to be a high traffic volume. I've only been using plusnet for a matter of days. I tried leaving it over night and it barely downloaded anything.
newsgroups can be used for downloading the samthings as torrents. newsgroups are basicly servers that you pay for access to and people can upload things like movies and games to the servers.
newsgroups are much much faster than torrents. you do have to pay for access to most good usenet provider (newsgroups) and you will also need a program to download the files from usenet.
try a free trial for newsgroups. Some usually let you download like 15 gigs worth for free. So if that works better, then use it. It's the best way to get stuff anyways.
I checked the Knoppix torrent I linked just before I posted and again just now and it ran up to my max (800kBps) in a few minutes both times, so the issue probably is not with the torrent.
Since you have the green tick in uTorrent, it might be that your ISP is the issue, although I have not seen any comments about PlusNet indicating they are doing that kind of throttling.
From what you said earlier, I am guessing you are using the AVG security suite. You might try disabling the anti-virus and firewall for a few minutes and try the Knoppix torrent again.
If it runs fast, then something in AVG is the issue.
If it still runs slow, then I am not sure what the issue could be.
You could try the encryption steps mentioned here earlier, but I really do not know what the issue could be.
