I buy a lot of blu-rays in the US (because they are cheaper) but most of them lack Japanese subtitles. When my wife and I return to Japan, we can rent the DVD version there and rip the subtitles to our notebook.

Now the question is: is there a way to use those subtitles to playback with the blu-ray version of the movie?

Playback equipment we use:
- Japanese PS3 slim with 320GB HDD
- 1080p HD TV Panasonic Viera

Equipment we have to rip and modify discs:
- Sony Vaio notebook with dualcore processor and BD-RW

My first idea was to rip the movie from blu-ray to .mts2 format and not compress it. Then add the ripped subtitles to it, remux and copy that file to the HDD of the PS3 and playback from there. Would that work? Other suggestions perhaps? Any input would be tremendously appreciated!
