Looking for the best way to do this. I've found a couple of methods. Installed one program this morning and had trouble navigating and getting it to work. I want to be able to pull data from the internet to add cover art, year, imdb rating, etc, like I currently do for audio using various taggers. Any suggestions?
Never mind, I was successful in finding a program. Still tinkering with it. So far I can see it grabs a lot of info, but there are a couple of items missing. Pretty good though for a free program.
Haven't finished tinkering with it yet, but I can't seem to find a way to import the MPAA rating. Also trying to figure out which media center programs could use it. Windows Media Center reads all of the thumbs (which save as "folder.jpg), so that's cool, but it doesn't import the synopsis from the xml file.
XBMC does the same - reads the folder image for the thumbs, but I would have to manually select each movie and use XBMC to obtain the data from a movie database. Still fumbling through it.
Edit - actually, with XBMC, I am able to select my entire movie drive and by clicking "Set Content" it updates the synopsis for every movie. It actually reads all the details of the movie from the file, like resolution, audio, etc..

I have only used XMBC to obtain automatically all that info(poster, plot, actors,art work...) for movies from a certain folder.It scans a folder, and looks up all the movies in it.From what I remember, if you have it set up to use folders name, then each movie needs to be in it's own sub-folder with the movie's name, otherwise will not be added to the library and needs manual input. Sometimes it also needs manual input when might be two movies with similar name that came out in the same year.
Yeah, I spent a lot of time creating folders for each movie. For media centers, so far I've tried Boxee, XBMC and Windows Media Center. Boxee seems useless. I like XBMC the best, but it still doesn't flow exactly the way I want. It has a broad selection in terms of scrapers, but I can't manage to get all of the info I want. And even when I did get the artwork, it didn't save it to the movies folder. It must store it locally in the XBMC program folder somewhere, which is not what I want, and I didn't bother looking into whether or not I can change that. Metabrowser inserts some info that XBMC doesn't, but I'm not sure where it can be used yet. I'm updating my collection with it anyway. No harm in that because it's pretty easy. I'm sure I'll find a program soon that will read from the XML file and tap into that good stuff.
