I've searched the forums and can't find this question, apologies if it's already been answered...

I usually download divx movies to my laptop then stream them to my xbox and through my TV.

From what i've read it is possible to download certain programmes which allow you to play downloaded blu-ray files on your laptop. If i get this programme can i then stream the file through the media extender on my xbox and watch the movie as i have done previously with divx?

If this can't be done, would it be possible to link my laptop to my TV via a hdmi cable and watch the file that way (assuming i download the correct software to play the file first)

Any advice please.
