Has anyone tried BlueCloner software to copy a Blu Ray movie to a disc.

Yeah, I purchased it a short while ago and it works. I have BLU-CLONER & BLU-RAY to DVD II PRO. I purchase these two because of the variety of HD media to standard media options. I still use AnyDVD/HD to back-up BLU-RAY to my hard drive as BLU-CLONER takes a longer time to complete this task. As a matter of fact the time it takes to complete a back up with either application is the only major drawback as the time it takes to complete a BLU-RAY back up of any kind averages 4hrs to create a BLU-RAY back up folder to my hard drive and anywhere from 20 to 30min to burn to my BLU-RAY external burner.
BLU-CLONER & BLU-RAY to DVD PRO II both can compress dual layer BLU-RAY BD-R 50GB to a single layer BD-R 25GB. BLU-CLONER lets you determine the compression ratio on menu's and special features as they should be set below fify percent as in my one experience setting the menu to 50% had the menu and special features looking better than the actual movie which was a bit pixelated. BLU-RAY to DVD PRO II does allow you to convert BLU-RAY to a standard DVD-5 or 9 which play in standard DVD players "MOVIE ONLY". Also you can convert BLU-RAY to AVCHD (Which I have not tried yet. I have had some audio sync issues towards the end of the films I've backed up so far. Initial trials produced coasters because of a drive ID issue I'm hoping this has been made aware of to te makers and fixed. They are pretty much the only candy store in town unless you are using the independent BLU-RAY compile and convert software like BD-rebuilder or TMUXER.

I fouund them extremely confusing. So until SLYSOFT roles out the much anticipated CLONEDVD2/HD, Open Cloner software will have to do. DVDFAB has out a BLU-RAY back up software released but they still haven't got it all together yet with "coming soon' refrences when reading their BLU-RAY software capabilities. I think Slysoft is gonna nail it with faster back-up and data transfer times. So far 4hrs to back up BLU-RAY sucks.

Thanks for the information. What format did you use to burn the disc H.264 or MPEG2. They advertise that H.264 takes 11 hours to burn, but the quality is better than MPEG2 which takes much less time. Did you use MPEG2 or H.264? Also, you mentioned a drive ID issue. Are you referring to the source drive. I contacted then about this field and was told to ignore it, if I already have ripped the file to the hard drive using Anydvd HD. They said just add the file to the Source Catalogue field from my hard drive. Is that what you are referring to?

Also, I agree, Slysoft will probally build a better product once it's releashed. I asked them for an estimated release date. They would not commit to a time frame for it's release.

What I was referring to was the software does not know to properly choose from a selected external drive when there are more than 1or2. I have a few external DVD drives installed to my desktop PC and only one BLU-RAY external burner. This software has trouble identifying and selecting your drive of choice. Yes I chose MPEG2. The whole technology of backing up BLU-RAY is still a work in progress and not very attractive when it takes the time mentioned to complete a simple BLU-RAY disc back-up.

I think Elby/Slysoft CloneDVD2/HD will be released very soon as I see that websites advertising BLU-RAY back up software list ClonDVD2/HD as coming soon. DVDFAB has a BLU-RAY back up software that's still being tweaked though it has been released. I downloaded the trial version and DVDFAB let's you do very little with the trial version. Their trial version won't even remove common CSS encryption from BLU-RAY without purchase of the software? In the mean time I been searching deals online for BLU-RAY media. BD-R 25GB is popular and limited if you prefer the entire back up with menu and limitted special features.

Thing's will be a whole lot more enjoyable once BD-RE 50's become available at cheaper prices. Hey it's all right around the corner and BLU-RAY back ups will be common sooner than you expect.
