i play my hd files on the ps3 ,but i usually put my movies on a flash drive so i won't have to worry about network errors such as freezing. i keep getting an error that says there's not enough space on my flash drive when i have over 7.46gb free, and the movie is 6.8. it works sometimes but not all the time

there's your problem,, fat 32 can't transfer files over 4 gb.. you'll need to split the file,, also formatting to ntfs won't help as the ps3 can only read fat 32.. do you get your hd file from internet as a mkv file?

when you set up to convert,, under configuration tab, on the left hand side you'll see file splitting option,, select fat 32, when it convert's it'll put the movie into x amount of parts each under 4gb so you can use them on a usb or external hard drive thats fat 32 formatted.
