Creating AVCHD disc from MKV with softsubs

Hey everyone. I have some video files in MKV format that have softsubs. The video is has a 4:3 aspect ratio. I want to be able to create and AVCHD disc to play in my Sony Blu-Ray player. I have tried using tsMuxer to create the AVCHD folders, then burned the folders with IMG burn. The problem is that tsMuxer doesn't recognize the subtitles, and also when I play the video on my Blu-ray player, the video is stretched to 16:9. It's not something my TV is doing either because I've tried adjusting the aspect ratio on it...but it sees it as real 16:9 so all I can do is zoom in or panorama. I've tried adjusting output settings on the Blu-Ray player and all that that does is add black bars to the top and bottom, while still stretching the image.

Does anyone know of a way to fix these two issues?
