I have my Panasonic DMP-BD80 connected throught HDMI cable, but my TV is not connected with my home theatre in 5.1, only in stereo. So I connected my DMP with the speakers directly by analog cables, but it's not working... Only my two front speakers actualy play sound, the rest is just quiet. Even if I try the sound test in the BD player's setup, it only plays sound in the two front speakers. I double-checked everything and I can't figure out why it's not working, I even tried to switch the cables to see if they arent defective somehow, but the two front speakers are working no matter what cable I use... So if anyone has any tip for me, I'd be really grateful. Thanks.
The 2.0 analogues are meant to plug into the TV, or stereo input in your audio receiver. If your audio receiver is HDMI, connect your BD player to your receiver using a HDMI cable, then from the receiver to the TV using another HDMI cable.
If your receiver does not have HDMI, use a TosLink/optical cable from the BD player to the audio receiver for surround sound, then an HDMI cable from the BD player to your TV for bes possible picture, you will also get sound out of the TV speakers with the HDMI cable if you choose not to use the audio receiver.
If your receiver does not have optical, then for the time being you can use the 2.0 analogue and connect it to "Stereo" inputs in your audio receiver, but you will only get sound out of the Right and Left speakers. If your receiver doesn't have at least optical, I think it's time for an upgrade... :)
