I was so excited when my printable media came today - for that extra ounce of customization. After carefully taking the first disk and putting it in my printer, I became greatly annoyed when I found there had been fingerprints on the print area, which caused the ink to appear lighter in those areas.
I can only assume they came from the place of manufacture because I was very careful from opening the cake to removing the freshly printed disk from the printer.
Has anyone else ever had this experience? I don't want to find the same thing on the rest of the cake, let alone future disk cakes I purchase. Is there any method I can use to clean the printable area without damaging it?
*EDIT*
I called the manufacturer today, and while they assured me there was no possible way human fingerprints could get on the disks, they are there and not mine.
I was further instructed that I should be able to use a standard cloth or a microfiber cloth to clean any oils from the surface of the printable side of the disk.
I haven't tried this to yet, and I don't even know if the one disk that had fingerprints was a fluke (maybe due to quality control not wearing gloves?). I would have assumed the oils would absorb into the paper-ish substance, but hopefully I won't have any issues with future printing.
Additionally, I was told that I could use water to wipe it down, but I would obviously have to wait for it to dry, which would probably take upwards of a day since only one side is exposed to the air.
