Having problems loading a particular Blu Ray disc

Hi there,
I'm a first time poster so apologies if this question has been answered previously.

I have never had any issued with my blu ray player. It is a Panasonic and I bought it about two years ago (ish) and upgraded firmwear a while ago but not recently. I watched Hot Tub Time Machine blu ray on it last night (and have watched this disc about several times previously) and it worked fine. Tonight, I went to put it on for a friend to watch and suddenly it makes my blu ray player go mad and eventually play it, up until the part where it asks if you want to resume playback. It then suddenly crashes, goes blank and reverts back to the Panasonic blu ray backdrop and tries to load it again and finally crashes permanently.

From trying it a number of times I have ascertained that the player itself is not at fault, as we successfully watched a number of other DVDs and Blu Ray discs this evening. Yet every time this particular disc is put in it comes up with the same fault - it attempts to load it, very slowly loads initially, crashes upon resume playback option, then restarts and crashes.

I have checked the disc and it is in pristine condition. I just don't understand how it could be a perfect working disc several times over and then suddenly decide to crash on me. Any ideas as to why it has happened and how I can fix it would be greatly appreciated.
