I am looking into buying a Blu-Ray player. I have found one I am very keen on.. it has the specifications I am looking for (mainly ethernet, usb, divx playback) however it is not the "cheapest" so to speak.
My question is this.
I'm looking at a Samsung player (seeing as I have a samsung HomeTheatre kit, with a sumsung hd-dvd player) however there is a phillips player with same spec, for around £50 less ($80). Does anyone know if I will be able to use the Samsung home theatre kit or if you have to use it with other samsung hardware?

What exactly is a Home Theatre "Kit"? Any Blu-ray player will be compatible with any Home Theatre System. Personally, I would not go with a Samsung Blu-ray player. Their TV's are great but their latest offerings in players aren't the best.
By the way, which Samsung HD-DVD player do you mean? I wasn't aware of a model they made. The only model that I can remember was their HD-DVD/Blu-ray combo which didn't really do too well but then you wouldn't be after a Blu-ray player. Unless you mean an up-converting DVD player?
